Field research. documentation. preservation.
The GNOSIS research project is HPAF’s field research
and cultural documentation initiative dedicated to the
study, preservation, and transmission of Hellenic
intangible cultural heritage.
Our purpose
Through fieldwork conducted in Greece and throughout diaspora communities, GNOSIS documents oral histories, regional traditions, music, dance, material culture, ritual practices, and community
memory.
Our work preserves cultural knowledge for future generations and strengthens the continuity of Hellenic living heritage.
Field work in practice
Our researchers travel to communities across Greece to listen, learn and document.
Through interviews, recordings, photography, and participant observation, we build a living archive
rooted in trust, respect, and collaboration.
